SERVICES WE OFFER

We provide complete vision and eye health examinations for glasses and contact lenses. These examinations are designed to completely evaluate your eyes and take about 90 minutes. They include a number of tests to determine how well you can see, how well your eyes work together, and the overall health of your eyes. Your pupils will be dilated to get a full view inside your eyes to check for diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. A glasses prescription is provided at the end of the examination. Our goal is to provide the highest quality examination to find eye problems so treatment can be started either to improve vision, improve comfort while seeing, or to prevent vision loss. If a problem is found that does not require surgery, a direct referral to one of our specialty clinics is available.

These additional services are available:

Complementary vision screenings for new patients.
Complete eye glasses ordering and repairs.
Pediatric and infant vision care.
Testing and treatment for eye problems and diseases including allergies, red eyes, foreign body removal, infections, glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.
Fitting of specialty and complex contact lenses.
Completion of DMV, school, pilot's, and other vision care forms.
Color vision evaluations for pilots and special occupations.
Evaluation and treatment for reading and learning, computer vision, eye alignment, and ocular coordination problems.
School, industrial and other off-site screening and vision evaluation programs.

FEES

We accept most vision and medical insurance plans including the following:

Medicare
Providence Blue Cross / Blue Shield (depending on plan)
Oregon Health Plan / Care Oregon Plan (Plus and Standard)

For patients in financial need who are not covered by an insurance plan, we offer a variety of reduced fee and other payment options. Fees for services not included in the complete examination such as glasses, contact lenses, or special treatments are extra. Prices for contact lenses and additional services can be obtained by calling our staff at the clinic numbers above.

THE EYEWEAR CENTER

The Eyewear Center at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove has over 1300 frames from which to choose. We carry quality frames from Ralph Lauren, Kate Spade, Kenneth Cole, Ocean Pacific, Izod, and Jessica McClintoch to name just a few. We are also proud to announce that we have recently acquired the new Georgio Armani and Emporio Armani collections.

For children, we carry Fisher Price frames.

Because we have a special relationship with most of the major frame manufacturers, if we do not have a particular frame in stock we can usually order it for you. All of our frames carry a one-year manufacturer's warranty.

We not only fill eyewear prescriptions for patients receiving an eye exam here at Pacific, but we will gladly fill your prescription from an outside optometrist or ophthalmologist. We use local laboratories to insure a speedy turn-around time.

We can provide our patients with any lens style or material which is currently available. These include super thin lenses, anti-reflection coatings, and Transitions® lenses that lighten and darken according to lighting conditions.

For the baby boomers whose arms might have gotten a bit too short, we carry progressive lenses such as Essilor's Varilux® lens and Hoya's ECP® line of progressives. Most lenses have a one-year warranty against scratching.

Lowell and Marcy, our opticians in Forest Grove, have over 50 years of combined optical experience and are ABO certified. We can perform many repairs such as nose pad and temple tip replacement, and frame straightening. If we do not have the necessary parts available for your glasses, we can usually obtain them easily and quickly.

VISION THERAPY CLINIC

Vision therapy is a program of individualized treatment that is prescribed to enhance visual abilities. It is frequently recommend for conditions such as crossed-eyes (strabismus), lazy eye (amblyopia), visually-related learning difficulties, visual consequences of head injury, visual discomfort (resulting from common everyday activities such as sustained reading or computer use), and other visual disorders that interfere with how we see, learn, or plays sports.

A complete Vision Therapy Evaluation is the first step for determining how effectively the eyes are gathering information, how efficiently that information is processed, and how well it is interpreted. Results of this evaluation identify strategies for helping the person, where vision theory will be beneficial, how many treatment sessions may be required, and the likelihood of therapy success.

Therapy is based upon principles of biofeedback and may include lenses, prisms, and other specialized instruments to enable individuals to gain mastery of specific visual skills and perceptual abilities. Treatment of specific visual skills may include focusing, eye coordination, eye movements, etc., but the goal of vision therapy is better visual performance and more effective information gathering, processing, and awareness.

INFANT/PEDIATRIC CLINIC

We provide eye care to infants and children 6 years of age and younger in our pediatric clinic. Younger children require special methods for determining how well the eyes can see, how well they work together, and the overall health of the eyes. Our goal is to catch eye problems early so they can be treated before the child starts school. This is to prevent the child from falling behind in their studies. The American Optometric Association recommends that infants receive their first vision examination at six months.

VISION SCREENINGS

As part of our commitment to community service, the Vision Centers provide free vision screenings for anyone age six months or older. Screenings provide important information about visual clarity, eye health, and eye coordination. They do not take the place of a complete vision examination. Screenings take about 20 minutes to complete and do not cause discomfort. Appointments are required.

We can prescribe daily wear contact lenses, extended wear contact lenses, soft contact lenses, rigid gas permeable (hard) contact lenses, bifocal contact lenses, and colored contact lenses. We also provide opportunities for qualified individuals to participate in research studies that evaluate new products and fitting techniques.
